Ft. Lauderdale Deep Sea Fishing Reports
Ft Lauderdale Offshore Fishing Report- March 2010
As
fishing trends go in Ft. Lauderdale, March can be one of the toughest to
predict. Everything hinges on what the weather has done to this point and
Punxsutawney Phil has little to do with any of it.
We have
had a cold winter here in south Florida, or should I say cool for those of
you that have had single digits and that has moved the fish through quite
nicely. With an excellent Sailfish season, we expect Sails to become less
frequent and the final visitor in the migration, the shark to become more
predominant.
We
have already begun to see shark’s presence here on the day’s when conditions
are right and expect this to increase. While we will still be catching
Sailfish, they won’t be in the numbers of the last few months.
As March
goes on, Cobia will start showing on both deep and shallow wrecks.
Amberjack’s, a fun fish to catch will also increase their numbers and at the
end of the month, the Vermillion Snapper will once again become a fish to
keep.
Mahi
mahi will also start showing up, mostly large ones running alone or in
pairs, these will be the bigger ones that those we catch in the summer. Our
slow Kingfishing of late will improve as well as the weather warms.
These
are just some of the fish we expect in March. Any given day can be a
surprise, even the occasional Swordfish has been caught in shallow waters
this time of year.
Watch
our daily blogs for accurate catch results on our fishing trips and we’ll be
back in April with more.
